Reliant Rx is now fitting Diabetic
Shoes & Inserts with the latest in fitting technology. We understand
that the most important part of a caregiver's day is patient care,
so we do all of the necessary paperwork to obtain reimbursement.
With the passing of the Therapeutic
Shoe Bill, Medicare (Part B) extended coverage to include footwear for
diabetic patients, such as our Advance Comfort Shoe, as well as many
of our available multi-density inserts and semi-custom orthotics.
Currently, Medicare will cover one pair of shoes, and 3 pairs of inserts.
This footwear can help prevent the 54,000 diabetic amputations occurring
annually.
With recent changes in the Medicare
formulary, fitters must have 2000 qualifying hours of client-patient
contact related to the diabetic foot, along with NIPCO and ABC certification.
These new laws prohibit 'back-door' operations from improperly fitting
your residents, and potentially causing an increase in blistering that
can lead to ulceration, and even amputation.
Zach Leach, our NIPCO and ABC-certified
fitter, will choose the correct shoe and insert for your residents'
foot type and condition.
Feel free to call Zach at
509.343.3400 to schedule a fitting, or just to ask questions
regarding diabetic footwear.
